Kiawah-
Our first stop on the way to Kiawah was to Swig and Swine. AMAZING food and great beer!
Or course we had to take fun mustache glass pictures :D
HAHA! :D
Our villa is in the background!
It was really nice! Basically a 1 bedroom apartment. Before we went to dinner, we went grocery shopping and got a few things for our stay. It was nice to have a kitchen!
Our patio- it was actually really hot and muggy and kinda gross (shocker- it was August),
so we didnt get to use this space as much as we would have wanted.
But it was still nice! It overlooked the pool!
Dinner that night was an Oyster Roast with Johns co-workers. I learned that I actually really enjoy fresh Oysters! NOMS! There was also an entire buffet of food. We hung out with one Jeremy and Katie again. After the roast we all went back to our villa and hung. We really like them a lot. I'm glad we have a fun couple to hang with on these work trips :D
It might have been really hot down there, but it sure was pretty :D
The next morning after John left for work, I slept in some and then went for a nice long run!
I saw a really cool bird and its nest!
Found my way to the beach
After my run, I went back, showered and went to the pool to wait for John to get off work. :D
That night for dinner we went to one of the resort restaurants. The wait at the Ocean Club was two HOURS! So we left and went to the Italian restaurant on site.
Of course it was great.
This was at the Ocean Club- it was gorgeous and a great place to watch the sunset!
The next morning, I went out for another run and really enjoyed the scenery.
John and I then went to the big pool for some lunch and sun time. We met up with Jeremy, Katie, and their little girl and had a great time. After a few hours in the August sun, we headed back for a shower and nap. LOL. Then we went out to Mexican for dinner! We had shrimp and mahi-mahi fajitas. SO good.
Pretty view!
Our last day there, John had to get up early again and head to work. I packed up all of our stuff, checked out, and then headed to the beach until John was done. It was HOT. haha.
When John was done, we decided to head to Charleston for the day. We stopped at Southend brewery. They had a really cool elevator! haha :D
I love the charm Charleston has :D
Then we hit up Revelry...really cool place!
Then we had dinner! I volunteered with Johns work one morning because they were shorthanded and they paid me with a meal! We decided to use it in Charleston. We made reservations at Poogans Porch. They didnt open until 5, so went next door and had a drink at Husk- it was an extremely cool renovated old timey home. Then it was dinner time. The food was incredible. One of my top 10 best meals ever. EVER.
Kiawah and Charleston were an amazing trip. I cant wait until our next one! :D
Work-
After we got back from our trip, I was approved to start working remotely on Mondays!!!! OMG this is such a lifesaver! I love not having to commute one day a week and it being on Monday is awesome. It makes Sundays a lot less stressful!
My best work friend also got married over the summer! Because we were so busy with summer programs, we decided to wait until they were over and throw her a honeymoon shower. She wasnt going on it until October, so it was perfect! I made her a toilet paper wedding cake- haha. it was cute :D we had a great time!
The home-
John and I decided it was time to re-mulch our flower beds and lay down some new weed blocker. We got stones to outline the beds too
.
Halfway!
Finished! It looks SO MUCH better! I also spread more grass seed, but it didnt end up taking :( Too many weeds. We'll treat for those first this year so they dont choke out the Bermuda.
We also got stones for the mailbox, made the space bigger and planted some new flowers. I love how it turned out!
John and I talked about wanting/needing a new mattress for a LONG time. We also wanted a new bedroom set as our plan was to get a king bed. We decided after looking that we were going to just get mattress for now, since everything together was going to be so expensive. Our backs were killing us and we were just not getting good sleep anymore. We LOVE the bed Krystal and Josh got so we knew we were going to look for a memory foam mattress. The best deals actually ended up being on Amazon. We were pretty much set on ordering one....Then John happened to get on Craigslist one night just to see what he could find. He found this AMAZING deal- it was a tempurpedic mattress and box and an ENTIRE Ashley bedroom's furniture set. The dresser, chest of drawers, bed frame, and two end tables. It was exactly what we were looking for. The lady was selling it ALL for $1500. $1500!!!!! We knew it was just too good to be true. BUT, we figured it couldnt hurt to check it out. I contacted the lady and we made plans to be at her house at 5pm with cash and a trailer. She said she had already gotten a few others offers, but we could come the earliest, so to come on.
It was perfect.
It IS perfect.
The lady was just as nice as she could be. Her husband got a job in Manhattan and was moving to a small New York apartment and had to get rid of everything! Talk about a HUGE blessing!! Krystal let us borrow some sheets and bedspread until we could find some we liked :D We ended up going with a pretty blue! I'll have to take a picture and post soon :D We are so incredibly thankful and sleep so much better!!! A king bed is amazing. It's seriously like a whole other world. :D
Carter enjoys the new bed too! ha!
With Friends:
Country concert! We with the Kinlaws to see Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell,
and Drake White- GREAT SHOW!
Josh celebrated a birthday! We celebrated with Mexican on his birthday and got him a ticket to go to another concert with us! Turnpike Troubadours- but it wasnt until November:D
I love these people
Of course we did tons of other stuff with friends, but because it's December and I'm writing this post, of course I dont remember :D haha
21 Day Fix-
I decided to give a shot! I actually lost 8lbs in the 21 days! Unfortunately, life got in the way (we went on a massive road trip in Sept/Oct, I turned 30, EVERYONE had a birthday, etc) so I'm pretty sure I've put all of it back on- BUT I have learned so much about healthy and clean eating and plan on doing it again! I'll post a few of my favorite recipes in another post!
