We rented a gorgeous house in Southern Shores. We got a GREAT deal on it! We looked for houses for a long time and the prices kept going down. So we risked it and waited until the week of to book. We found the one we really wanted and I called to see if they would discount it any further. Cant hurt to ask, right? Well, they knocked off another $200!! YAY!
Our house had 4 bedrooms, a private pool, hot tub, bikes, corn hole, was close to the beach, and was on a very private lot! We were so excited. We couldnt wait!

Carter on the way down! He LOVES hanging out the window!
John and I decided since the house was bigger than we needed, we would invite our families to come down the first weekend. Unfortunately, since we booked it so last minute only the Martins were able to come. We had a great time with them though! It was a little rainy on and off and overcast while they were there, but nothing that stopped us! We checked out Jockey's Ridge, the hot tub, pool, let the Carter swim his little heart out, played cards, and went out to get Seafood. It was great to get to spend some time with them!
John and Mom selfie! haha :D
Sunday evening through the next Saturday were all ours! Thanks to pregnancy brain, I cannot remember our day by day (should have blogged sooner!). But we had a blast. We spent A LOT of time at the pool. And why not? It was just us! Carter LOVES to swim and seriously had the best time. We cooked some, went out and checked out some restaurants, watched some terrible movies (I'm not allowed to pick movies anymore. lol), and got in the hot tub A LOT. Since we could control the temperature, we kept it pretty low. It was still very relaxing and I was safe being in it! YAY! One of the days John and I walked to the beach and got eaten up by sand flies :( We were pretty disappointed in that. Luckily, we had our pool so it wasnt a huge deal, just a bummer. We also couldnt take Carter to the beach except after 6pm, so it was really fine with us that we ended up spending more time at the pool than the beach. We checked out Duck one afternoon and got some ice cream :D Checked out Kitty Hawk some and stopped in at the Outer Banks Brewery. We also got Duck Donuts for breakfast one day and Stack em' High another day. DELICIOUS!
On Friday we decided to give the beach a go again and we couldnt have asked for a more perfect day. We looked it up and sand flies come out depending on the direction of the wind? Who knows. That day was perfect (minus getting sunburned, whoops!). We played boccie, hung out at the beach, had some snacks. It was lovely. That afternoon we went back and got changed and headed out to Manteo for the night. John had read some really great things about the little town and we wanted to check it out! On the way to the Manteo, I felt the baby kick!!! It was SO EXCITING! It was quick, but I'm almost positive that's what it was :D When we got to Manteo we stopped in a Kitty Hawk Kite store. The lady working would.not.stop.talking. Also enter my first stranger grabbing my belly. I wasnt holding my stomach or resting my hands on it or anything. But she comes up to me grabs my belly and asks if it's our first. Honestly, I was so excited someone recognized I was pregnant, I didnt care. haha. After we were able to get away from her, we checked out the Lost Colony Brewery (well John did, I had appetizers!). Then we headed to Ortega's, which was on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives. It was DELICIOUS. The chips were homemade and so good that we got extra to go. YUM. I was so full when we were done, I was in pain. lol We strolled around the downtown some and really enjoyed the night.
Saturday morning came way too early. We packed up and said our goodbyes. We were so sad to leave. Our babymoon was everything we could have hoped for and something we both really needed. After not getting to spend a lot of time together and being stressed at work, it was perfect :D Here are some pics!
