April 25th
Baby M is the size of a Roborovski hamster this week! Super cute!
Baby is starting to practice breathing all on it's own this week! And on a grosser note- baby is also building up the first poop. Yay! My update this week said that if I poked my belly, Baby M would respond by wriggling! (I tried this at the ultrasound and baby was not having it, baby was taking a nap. lol). Baby's neck has begun to straighten and the baby can lift its chin off it's chest! The baby is measuring over 2 inches long. :D
How's Mama? Well my app let me know that my uterus is now the size of a softball! I've also gained 1/2lb and my belly grew another 1/2 inch! This week has continued to be full of nausea, sore boobs, heart burn, frequent trips to pee, and believe it or not- I think I'm more tired than I have been yet. I also had to work all weekend, which didnt help. I would like to say that while I have been nauseous every day this week, I can tell it's starting to subside a little. It's not as bad as it has been, so hopefully that's a good sign for things to come!
How's Daddy? Also exhausted. There is just too much going on right now to get everything done. He's continued to be an amazing support to me and continues to work so hard every day for us. We are planning a trip to the beach in May and we are both very much looking forward to the break :D
Highlights from the week: WE GOT TO SEE OUR PRECIOUS LITTLE ONE! There is just nothing like it. We had our appointment Tuesday morning of this week and we just couldnt wait. For me, I just knew I would feel so much better making sure the baby was still doing well. It's so hard at this stage because I cant feel the baby yet, there really isnt a way for me to make sure baby is alright. This appointment was our LONG appointment- 2 hours. First we met with nurse and went over all sorts of documents, hospital registration (OMG!), and do and donts. She also took my vitals- my blood pressure was high- but I was SO nervous. I asked them to take it again at the end since I've NEVER had high blood pressure. They were nice enough to do so and it was perfect- phew! Then we went and waited for the doctor. We met with her for a long time. She answered any and all of our questions. Her name was Dr. Byrd and we both really liked her a lot. We'll end up meeting all the doctors in the practice as any of them can be on call when I go into labor. Dr. Byrd answered all of John's questions too. One was about listeria and deli meat (bless him, he has tried any ideas he can come up with to make Jersey Mikes work for me). Dr Byrd was quick to let us know that I can have deli meat! She said as long as it's from a reputable restaurant, health codes are checked regularly and it's fine to consume. THIS MADE MY DAY. I knew what I was having for lunch!
After our meeting, we went into the ultrasound room. I had to get a pap and then we got to see baby! I love so so so much that John has been to both appointments so far. I hope he can come to them all because it's just such a magical moment getting to see our little one. The baby had grown SO much! and had a "perfect" heartbeat according to the doctor. It was 170BPM! SO FAST! She told us the baby was measuring 4.8cm- just a little bigger than a Ritz cracker. So neat. I cant believe this happening. She was super sweet and let us record the heartbeat and the ultrasound for a few seconds. I love having it. Whenever I've been feeling sick this week, it's such a sweet reminder to watch and remember what it's all for. It's all so very worth it :D At the end of our appointment, we scheduled our next two appointments. The next one will be on May 20th and then June 17th we'll find out the sex!!!! Since diabetes runs in my family, I'll get to do a fun glucose test twice. The first one will be on May 20th. Fingers crossed for no issues!
