Friday Favorites!

YAY! FOR FRIDAY! This is probably the first two weekend in a row that I have not had to work a weekend. YAY for finally have a part time worker! She is super sweet too, btw! Anyway, despite the terrible "spring" weather, it's been a great week!

1) Weekend- I had this past weekend off and it was glorious! John didnt have to work as much this weekend since basketball was on, so we got to spend a lot of time together! It was SO nice. Friday we watched the game together, played some disc golf, watched more basketball, and then had Brad and Jenny over for dinner. Saturday we slept in (YAY!) and just lounged around. I did some cleaning and laundry. It was just nice for us both to be home, even if we werent doing anything together! haha. I took John to work for him to do like 30 minutes worth of work and took Carter to Pullen Park for a walk while we waited for John to be done. It was really nice to just be outside and Carter really seemed to enjoy it!! Then we went and picked up Mellow Mushroom for dinner and took it home to watch more basketball. John had to go back to work after that and Carter and I hung out and napped. When John got home we hung out for a few more hours. We watched the last three episodes of Game of Thrones to prepare for this coming weekend! SO excited!! haha. Sunday we slept in and John had to go to work early so I took him again and actually hung out with him while he was there. We started our taxes (not good news, haha) and then I got to watch some of the news being made! It was fun :D The rest of Sunday we enjoyed some together then he went back to work and I hung out with the Carter.
Watching the game!
The bridge John proposed to me on! All renovated after they redid Pullen Park.
                                                               SO pretty!
                                                                 Pullen :D
                                                               LOVE HIM :D

2) Bar Rescue!- I LOVE this show. John got me into it about a month ago and I am kind of obsessed with it. haha. Well John happened to find out they were filming the show at a bar in Garner!! They were going to be do doing a taping of the bars stress test and we decided to go. I was BEYOND excited! It was really cool to get to see the filming and everything live. It will probably be the ONLY time I'll be okay with waiting an hour and a half for food. haha. The are unveiling the renovated bar and it's makeover tonight. If you dont know anything about the show, when a bar is going under they call for this consultant to come and help. He comes and trains the staff and basically sets it up to be successful. They do a stress test one night to practice and then a few days later, remodel, and reopen. I'm excited to go back by and see what it looks like now! This totally made my week though! haha.

3) Date Night- John won tickets this week to a Hurricanes game! We were lower level, right behind the goal post. It was SO much fun. They lost, but I always forget how much fun hockey games can be. Plus the seats helped! haha. Then we went to the bar rescue taping. It was a GREAT night indeed! :D
4) Game of Thrones- I mentioned John and I rewatched the last few episodes this weekend- SO excited for it to start back up this weekend!

5) P&G Savers- Krystal sent me a link to sign up for free samples! I am SO excited about this!! I know it will be awhile before we get them, but I'm excited!

6) Laundry- I am FINALLY caught up on laundry!! FINALLY! haha. Now I am going to do my best to just keep up with it. It's so much easier putting up one load at time than all of it at once. haha. It's really these little things that make me happy. haha.

7) 5k- My 5k is next week and this week I pumped one out! So glad to be back to being able to run this far! It may have been a struggle, but at least I did it! haha.

8) 10lbs!- I am done 10lbs since Jan! It may have taken me three months, but hey! at least I'm down 10lbs!! SO excited about this :D

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Showers for Sherry!

Me and the bridesmaids threw Sherry a shower a few weeks back. We had SO much fun! They were in charge of the food and I was in charge of decorations, favors, and games. They decided on a tea party theme, which was cool and different, just like my sister. lol. I got there early to help set up. They had already prepared most of the food and drinks. We had tons of different "British" foods and teas available for guests.

Food!
 Some of the drinks

As for decorations, I stuck with her "nature" theme. I found cute mason jar decorations off of pinterest and then added the rocks and flowers to them. I made about 6 of these to go around the apartment (we had it at the bridesmaids townhouse). I wrapped them in burlap, ribbon, and then twine. Super cute. I actually have some of these around my house for decoration now. haha. Then I had extra burlap to use.

For the favors, I found these really cute tea bags that you turn into favors. Basically, you take them out of their packet and make a new packet out of scrapbook paper. here is a link to the directions I followed: Tea Bag Favors. They came out super adorable! After you fold them all up- I added a twine bow!

The actual party was so much fun too. I got to meet a lot of Sherry's friends and get to know everyone a little better. It's so weird seeing my baby sister in such an adult role! I am so proud of her. After we ate and socialzed for awhile we did two truths and a lie, that turned into story time about Sherry! It was really fun. Then it was present time! She racked up! She has another shower this weekend with his family too. They will definitely be set for their life together!
                                                                          Presents!
                                                                Mom, Me, and Sherry!
                                                                  LOVE MY SISTER!

After the shower we got ready for her bachelorette party! She is and always has been a low key kind of person. She wanted breakfast for dinner and then to meet the guys for drinks at Big Boss. We took her to the Flying Biscuit for dinner- YUMMY! Then we headed off to Big Boss. It was nice to spend time with Aaron too!

It was a wonderful day full of celebrating Sherry!! :D LOVE YOU BABY SISTER!!!

Last Weeks Favorites

A little late on this one! haha.

1) March Madness- One of my favorite times of the year!! Last thursday I was off so I got to watch it all. day. long. awesome! Friday I had a half day and then was off the weekend so it was all  full of basketball. SO HAPPY!

2) Thursday off- I had last Thursday off. I had worked 9 straight days and I kind of forgot what it felt like to have a day off. It was awesome. haha. John and I met with our attorney (more on that in a minute) and then just watched football and relaxed. I worked on some laundry and hung out with the Carter. Much needed day off. So excited to have a half day today and get to spend it all with John!

3) Attorney- So insurance came back and didnt offer us what we had hoped to get for our car. John and I had been discussing hiring an attorney to deal with it all anyway and when that happened, we went ahead and hired one. It's SO nice to not have to worry about anything anymore. They just contact us and give us updates and information. We dont have to do anything anymore. Such a relief. John is also going to see a specialist since his back has still been bothering him. We dont want to have any issues with his back from this accident. At the end of the day we just want to make sure his back is okay and we are covered for what we paid for the car.

4) Disc Golf- Friday after we watched our terrible game that knocked us out of the tourney :( we went and played disc golf with Brad and Jenny. It was SO much fun. I miss disc golf. I am excited for the warmer weather so we can play more often!

5) Long weekend for me! :D Nothing is better than having a few days off up ahead!!! :D

6) Mark Gottfried Show!- John actually won VIP tickets to this!! We got to sit right next the stage and we even got him to sign a ball for us. SO EXCITING!

7) Bark Box- We started getting a bark box again for Carter! thank you Groupon! So worth the price!!

Friday Favorites

Martins- The in-laws came over for dinner this week. We made taco bowls, taught them Dutch Blitz, and watched Skyfall. It was A LOT of fun. Nights like that I wish even more that John had more normal hours. It would be nice to be able to do it more often!

Sherry's Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party- SO. MUCH. FUN. Post to follow :D

End tables- WE FINALLY HAVE END TABLES AND A COFFEE TABLE. I found some on craiglist that I REALLY liked and my sweet husband went and picked them up for me yesterday. This may seem small to some, but we've been looking for what feels like forever. One step closer to our place feeling more like home :D

Girls night- Kristen and I hung out last Friday night. John went to a concert, so we made it girls night. It was the first time I've had a girls night in what feels like forever! We just went to dinner and hung out at my place, but it was much needed and more to come in the future for sure!

Survive and Advance- John got us free tickets to the advanced screening of ESPN's 30 for 30 on State! It was REALLY good. I was very impressed. I even got a hug from Wittenberg!! John did too. It was awesome :D The picture is of the '83 team!

THESE:

Sausage cream cheese bacon wrapped toast. Ummm. One of the best things I have ever eaten. I will be making these for tailgating. Prepare yourself people! They are addictive and very bad for you.

Carterbutt- Kisses from him totally make my day every morning. He is such a sweetie.
NC State- Fighting hard in ACC tourney! :D   Happy Weekend!!

Tired.

That's pretty much how I have felt for what seems like forever. There has been so much going on and I'm just tired from it all. Physically, emotionally, and mentally.

The world lost another great man last week. The Lord called Roy up last Wednesday. John and I had gotten to go see him the Monday before he passed away and he was asleep the entire time. He could barely stay awake long enough to drink a little fluid. John and I got to meet his son, Mike, and we talked with him for a long time. At one point Roy did wake up for a split second and saw us and smiled. It was sweet. So sad to see him in that state though. This past Monday was his funeral. It was a beautiful service. My little brother got up and gave part of the eulogy. I was so proud of him and I know my dad would have been too. All of this made me miss my dad more than you can imagine. After the funeral we went to the grave for the 21 gun salute for his military honors. It's still hard to believe he is gone. Such an amazing, kind man. He will be greatly missed.

Roy and my dad at a State game...silly guys. At least they are together now.
We also found out that John's uncle Scotty may not have much longer either. He has had issues with his lungs and has had to be put on a ventilator in the past. Well they had to put him back on it recently. Usually, if you are put on it for a third time, you dont come back from that. So John and I went to visit him on Sunday. He was in an induced coma since he wanted to keep pulling the oxygen stuff out of his mouth and nose. Again, so sad. We spent some time with his family. The past few days he has been doing MUCH better. They actually have taken him off the ventilator and he seems to be getting somewhat better. Please keep him and the family in your prayers. If he pulls through this, he is a possible candidate for a lung transplant.

I also found out that Beth Chase, a very dear lady to me, has cancer. She has always been such a role model for me. Her and her husband have such an amazing marriage too. John and I have looked to them for years and hope when we have been married as long as them that we are still as much in love with each other as they are. I'm sure we will be, but it's refreshing to see. Her cancer is 85% curable, which is great, but she is going to have to go through a lot of chemo and radiation. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. We are good friends with her son, Thomas, and Thomas's kid is our godson!

Woodstock was officially totaled. We should find out early next week the amount they are going to offer us for the car. I hope and pray that all of this goes smoothly. We cannot find a car that is comparable for a similar price :(. I hope the insurance company looks at what is comparable? I doubt it, but we are going to try and see. I dont want to make money off of this- I just dont want to lose any money and would like to have a comparable car when all is said and done. Just please keep us in your prayers! This is all so stressful!

Other than that, obviously not having the same hours as John has really been wearing on us both. We still havnt finished making our new apartment our "home" yet and really need some time together without everything else going on to get it done. Hopefully soon.

I am ready for this all to pass! I need some good news in my life for a change. haha. I guess it could always be worse. I just need a vacation and time to rejuvenate myself.

Friday Favorites!

1) Car Registration- I feel old for this being a favorite- but we have had NO time to get our Tahoe registered until yesterday. and it is DONE. HUGE check off our to-do list! YAY! :D

2) Trivia Night- John and I went to trivia night with Kristen and AJ this week. It was SO much fun! I think we are going to try to do it every other week. We lost- but it was still fun to play.

3) Lose It!- I had this app year ago and have bounced around different apps over the years. Well Krystal had joined this one and told me about, so I switched over so we could help each other out! I'm excited about it. I also feel pressure to do better since I know someone can see what I'm logging! haha. Thanks Krystal!

4) QDR- Oh yes, this is a definite high light. Usually we have Mix playing in the office- all day, every day. BUT this week we had it on QDR. MUCH better. :D It really does wonders for my mood. haha :D

5) Rock and Roll Marathon- It's coming to Raleigh next April! I am running the color run this April and have been wanting to train for a half marathon. This is the perfect goal to set! It gives me a year to train (I'm slow!). If I cant do it by then, then it's probably not meant to be. haha. So updates on this to come for sure! right now I need to focus on being ready for the 5k this April! haha.

6) Date night!- John and I had a spontaneous date during his dinner break last night. He took me to a cuban restaurant for dinner! We both REALLY miss Miami sometimes and especially Cuban food! So it was really nice to emerge into that atmosphere, even if for just a little while. The food was pretty good too! I was expecting it to be way off from what we had in Miami- but it was pretty close! We will definitely be going back :D Mmmmm...cuban food;D Now I remember why I didnt lose much weight in Miami! haha.

Other updates:

Roy- they moved him to a hospice care facility. They have told him and our family that there is no way that he is going to recover. I feel so bad for grandma. John and I both have Monday off work, so we are going to go visit him. So sad. :( Please continue to keep him and everyone in your prayers.

Sarah- Johns cousin has had a few of the seizures that the doctors need her to have to find out what is going on- we are just waiting on one more big one for them to determine that all of them are coming from the same location in her brain. Keep praying the Lord protects her body while helping the doctors get the info they need, so they can make her all better! :D
