Happy Birthday America! We spent the end of our trip home celebrating the 4th! It started on Sunday the 3rd celebrating with John's extended family. Mom and Dad Martin picked us up from Brad's (we stayed there after American Aquarium) and we headed to Fayetteville!
John and I LOVE the farm and had asked Mom Martin if when we were home it would be possible to visit and she got it worked out! In fact, the ENTIRE family came!! There were 24 of us! The family has gotten SO big! We were so big, that we had to eat at the church. haha We ate at the church Mom Martin grew up in and where a lot of his family still goes. It's called Tabor United Methodist and is a beautiful little church; storybook like :D
We got permission to bring Carter (which was good, because we were REALLY excited about him running on the farm with the other dogs!). When we got to the church he met some of the family and then we took him in. We crated him while everyone ate. I was afraid he would bark or be upset because he could see everyone, but he was really really good. He just sat there watching everyone. We ate some amazing food and caught up with the family. I love that side of the family. They are all SO nice and sweet and always make me feel so welcomed :D I can totally see where Mom Martin gets her kindness from :D
After we finished eating, we let Carter out. He was SO good with the family!! He LOVED the babies. Hopefully, he will be like that when we have kids too (not for a LONG time though! haha). Then we all headed the farm to visit. The farm is one of the most relaxing places in the world and probably one of my most favorite places ever. Everything is just so calm :D And with the high paced job I have, I love it more than you can imagine! We sat around and talked, I played with the babies some :D and of course Gretchen and John Ryan asked us to play a game. Also, one of my favorite things about going to the farm! They taught us a new game called Hand and Foot. SO MUCH FUN! :D
We were a little disappointed because the farm dogs are very protective of their home and did not like Carter being there. We had to carry him in because they were a little aggressive towards him. I totally understand because they are protecting their food and home, but I was sad they couldnt be friends. We took Carter out at one point and one of the dogs attacked Carter :( She cut his eye and bit his neck. I freaked. But luckily he was okay. John iced his eye for a long time. Oh well. At least he was okay. He ended up being crated most of the time because the babies were in the house and he would just have wanted to play and lick them. We let him sleep in the bed with us that night because we felt so bad. haha
Anyway, we had SUCH a great time at the farm. I cant wait till we live back in Raleigh so we can go visit more!
all 24 of us! what a good lookin' family!
Julie and her Nephew dog!
Love my man!
The Martin Family!
My sweet little family :D
After we got back from the farm we went and said bye to Krystal and Josh and Hutch since they were at his house still. We get to go visit them in Oct. SO Excited!!
Monday we spent the day with my family! My aunt Val, uncle Kevin, and Grandma came to visit! We went over to my mom's house and had a HUGE lunch! a very patriotic lunch too, including ribs;D YUM. We spent some time with them and then helped my family start packing for their trip down to Miami!
After we left my mom's I went and met up with Jennie, Jordyn, her mom and brother. We got dinner and I was able to catch up with her whole family. I love her mom to death :D When we were leaving she hugged me and called me her other daughter :D LOVE IT! :D
Then it was time for us to pack :( We also spent some time with Johns family AND I bought Julies guitar! YAY! :D Now I have my own to practice!
Overall, it was a great 4th! There are no words to summarize our trip home. I missed it already, even when we were still there. There is no doubt in my mind that we will be back soon. Just as soon as we can save up money and buy a house. I like Miami, but there is really no place like home. :D I love Raleigh and all that it is :D
