Migraines are NO fun at all. Fortunately, I have not had a bad one in a pretty long time. Until Tuesday. Monday night before I went to bed I could tell I was starting to get a headache, so I took some ibuprofen and went to sleep- that usually gets rid of headaches. I didnt realize that I was in store for a migraine the next day. I woke up feeling like I did not want to do ANYTHING (more than just the usual, "ugh, I dont want to work today.") The thought of walking Carter made me want to cry. I almost called in because I knew the migraine was just going to get worse.
I have medicine that I can take for when I feel it oncoming (which would have been the night before) but it doesnt help that much if I take it after it's in full swing. I have some other medicine that has pain killers in it, but I knew if I took it I would be out for the day. I reeeeeally didnt want to take a sick day already, so I toughed it out and went to all my meeting mornings hoping it would subside. Wrong. It just got worse. During the meetings I was at the point where I wish I could just jab something into my brain to help relieve the pressure. I just could not imagine the rest of the day sitting in my office with the bright lights and people coming in and out asking me questions. So I asked my supervisor if I could work from home the rest of the day and thankfully he said yes.
When I got home I went ahead and took a pain killer and took a long nap. Unfortunately, when I woke up I still had most of the migraine :( So I took another (dont worry, it says I can take up to two each time I take a dose). Then I had to do some work to justify working from home. lol So I did. Poor Carter just wanted to play and didnt understand why I didnt want to. When I had come home early he was SO excited! Poor puppy. Anyway, after the second pain killer I started to feel better and after more Ibuprofen by the end of the night it was pretty much gone. Thank goodness.
I dont know how many of you get migraines, but after a migraine, my brain is just sore. It's tired from hurting. lol. So the relief is great because all the pressure is gone, but my head still usually hurts afterwards for awhile- just a different hurt. And usually I can feel leftovers of it for a few days. ugh.
I've gotten migraines ever since I was a kid and like I mentioned earlier, luckily I have not had one in a long time. I also have never been able to figure out what sets them off. Sometimes stress, but there has to be something else too- I just have not been stressed out recently for it to be that. Who knows. I am just glad it's gone :D Here's to no more migraines! Ha, I wish!
